Jesus Camp — Documentary 2006

I'm just watching this interesting documentary by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady. It horrified me to watch (with a skeptical eye, as always) the ways children are manipulated by adults. It is worth mentioning that I thought the adults were for the most part well-intentioned, but them acting in their ignorance — willful or otherwise — could cause a trusting child to have profound experiences which would no doubt leave them living by blind faith. Watch the movie and judge for yourself.

The best defense is not faith, but trust — trust in reason and critical thinking. These skills should be acquired as early as possible. No one can not not be fooled or led to believe or pre-suppose the ridiculous — regardless of how smart they are or how well they have been educated. But being able to "think for yourself" will allow you to figure out where you went wrong in your thinking, and get back onto the path in search of the truth. All errors, are errors of thinking.
