I find the yearly 'War On Christmas' an interesting cultural phenomenon. Cultural because it seems to happen in predominantly English speaking western cultures, most notably the United States.
Both atheists and Christians lose their shit. In parts of secular or animist/ Buddhist Asia, Christmas is celebrated by Christian and non-Christians alike. In some churches in Australia, Santa Claus comes into the church at the end of the service to hand out candy to the children.
People seem to be able to get on with each other and make room for each others beliefs. But in America, it certainly gets a heck of alot more entertaining. :-)
