The Holy See is an independent (sovereign) state and the pope is its the bbut waitbuthead of state. Therefore the pope has
sovereign immunity i.e. he cannot be charged as a criminal for conspiracy. In this case, knowingly protecting criminals (child rapists) from law enforcement and justice, and more abhorrently trivializing the horror experienced by these abused kids.
