I still haven't decided what my personal strategy would be to deal with these folks from retail who would sacrifice customer bang-for-the-buck for their profitability. If it's going to come down to war, using customers as cannon fodder, so be it.

That is what the internet does -- gives the little guy some "leverage" so that big bullies like you will find it more difficult to get away with your shit. Everyone is a Sovereign Individual. You are rich because people buy from you -- voluntarily. The internet backlash is a reminder to you to not bite the hand which feeds you. Because it is the demands of CUSTOMERS which make the market you so cleverly "exploit".
