Gawd almighty. Here they are again, Singapore's finest embarrassing themselves by agreeing to agress against peaceful citizens -- this case a private citizen employed by the not-so-free media -- by agreeing to act at the behest of their political masters -- the apparatchiks running the state.
The Singapore Police Force are an exemplary organisation. Today's cop is polite, and has a great public face and conducts him/ herself without the nonsense of a typical US-TV cop. Cops patrol the streets and swiftly bring down the no-nonsense justice to criminal behaviour especially violent criminal behaviour, making Singapore one of the saftest places in the world, boasting a consistently low crime rate.
It breaks my heart to see these wonderful men and women of the SPF end up at pawns of politics and the private agenda of a few "higher-ups" in the state machinery.
Cops should be out there busting the "real bad guys" - the robbers, the armed bandits, the rapists, the bullies, murderers and the fraudsters from small-time con artists to corporate criminals. It is not the duty nor the place of a country's police force to involve and entangle themselves in political matters -- I assume in this case it is the images portrayed of flooding Singapore which the thought-police ("authorities") have deemed as "harmful" to the "perfect image" of Singapore which has been marketed ad naseum, globally.
C'mon, SPF have more respect for yourselves and refuse to entangle yourselves in political matters. And yes, the public wll notice, and salute you for it.
