Politics is way better than crime because once you rule, you can rock as hard as you like. Most people will agree that criminal activity is immoral because it initiates force and applies that force to individuals against their will or without their consent. i.e. murder, assault, theft, fraud. Criminal activity is illegal because it breaks the laws of the territory. Sometimes, but not automatically, the laws of the land and basic human morality or are in concord.
Politics, on the other hand does away with basic human morality. Under the auspices and behind the shield of The State you, the Grand Head Pooh-bah of the realm can murder, physically assault others, steal their stuff and outrightly cheat them. You can also make it a criminal act for those you plunder to complain, dissent or disagree with you.
